Heh! We saw some of his work around Christmas when it was at the Glenbow Museum here - it surprised me how small (letter sheet sized) most of his work was, so this makes it equally impressive.

The Mona Lisa is also pretty tiny, like the size of my laptop. I never thought of small as being impressive, but yeah, getting that much detail to it, that makes sense. Did you see his prints, or the actual plates? Do those even still exist?

Yup, they were all prints there, and they had a couple of plates. He would drill a hole the size of a quarter through the plates at the end of the run so no unauthorized copies could be made. What surprised me the most was how recent his work is. Also, the exhibition was crazy busy, so we didn't get to linger as long as we would have liked.

The exhibition had "54 works selected from the collection of the National Gallery of Canada, and includes prints that represent the different themes and areas of study that fascinated this extraordinary artist" :) .

do the optics actually work out? like, would a camera in that off-center position actually capture that image?
