Immigration reform

I'm curious about this whole "immigration reform" thing, but I haven't been keeping up. I've heard that there's two competing bills; I've heard that they're making it a felony to support an illegal immigrant; I've heard that anything we try will just make things worse; I've heard that this doesn't even help fight terrorism, but it's supposed to help the economy. Anyone care to update me and fix my errors?
