Curb, Goodwill, or Freecycle?
Sep. 12th, 2006 07:22 pmI've got some junk to get rid of, probably useful to someone other than me, and I'm trying to decide the best way to get rid of it.
Sticking it on the curb with a FREE sign is the easiest, and I've done it in the past for appliances, but the drawback is that people may be reselling it for personal profit or drug habits. The closest Zoot's cleaners to drop clothes off for Goodwill is a couple miles away and out of my way, and I think they only take clothing, but the sorting process employs and people for a job, and the money from reselling it will fund various Goodwill programs. And it's a secular group with no political agenda, unlike similar organizations I will not name *cough*Salvie's*cough*. Freecycle would involve time spent online making contact with a specific person to take it, and theoretically puts me a mild risk by meeting the person, but it promotes a community of people reusing goods. Craigslist could do the same for me.
Any of you use any of these? What do y'all think?
