Good news

Peeper is improving! She's apparently gained a gram (which I guess is a lot), and she's got more energy - the vet said she's starting to be feisty when they handle her. :) He also said that the prognosis is "guarded," but he said it was good news that she's improving. He suggests (and I totally agree) keep flushing her system another day and keep feeding her and keep giving her medicine, and I can (hopefully!!!!) bring her home tomorrow. They'll show me things like how to give her fluids and medicines (I'm guessing by syringe, which I've done before). I guess she's got gout with the high uric acid, but she's doing better.

I think I'm gonna go cry again. :)

Yeah, I'm so happy.

My Dad, who can find the dark cloud to every silver lining, pointed out that her end is probably still near and that she may do this again, multiple times more, sucking more money out of me... But I'm glad to have just a little more time with her.

So long as you're happy and the bird is not in any pain, don't pay any attention to your dad's comments.

Your icon is absolutely ridiculous. :) When does the movie come out anyway?

My Dad means well, he's trying to prepare me for the inevitable. He just has no sense of tact whatsoever. It's like having Woody Allen for a father (Dad's Jewish too).

Snakes on a Plane comes out August 18th. You should check out [livejournal.com profile] snakesonablog - it's where I've been snagging these icons :P

To fully understand this icon, you have to have seen the Badger Flash ;) (there's also other versions, a Harry Potter version and some others).

Well, it's inevitable for all of us but we don't have to spell it out ^.^;;;

Yes, I have seen the badgerbadgerbadgerbadgerMUSHROOMMUSHROOM flash, and of course made the connection, hence saying it was ridiculous rather than simply bizarre. Who hasn't seen that flash? :)

I am doing the happy dance! My only hope is that her quality of life will not suffer - I can sort of see what your Dad may have been saying, although not quite so .... caustically. But she is in VERY good hands, which makes her a lucky little bird!

He doesn't understand subtlety, that there's different ways to say things. Like instead of his "you know she's just going to keep doing this for years and sucking money out of you and being emotionally draining," he could've said "what do you think you'd do if this happened again?, and what are the chances of that?" *Sigh* I just keep reminding myself he means well, rather than meaning to burst my little bubble of hope.

Yah! Wonderful.

Oh, and just ignore your dad. I had people telling me that Fuzzbutt would not last much longer since she was about thirteen. She lived to twenty-one.

Don't mourn her while she is living.

You might want to schedule her for semiannual checkups instead of annual, just to keep a good check on her. And its cheaper than the emergency vet.

I actually don't remember if I took her to the vet last this past year, or the one before. If it was two years ago, I will kick myself. But yeah, semi-annual does make sense to me. The concern I have is weather - I don't want to take her in the winter, so I should schedule them ahead in Spring and Fall or something to make sure I go.

That makes sense. Spring checkup and Fall checkup.
