I'm looking for a free and/or open source program that will let me edit .pdf files and save them partially filled in and continue them later. Any suggestions?

Edit: I use a Mac.

I'm not exactly sure what task you're trying to accomplish here.

However, while I haven't used LaTeX in a while, it's very easy to write files in LaTeX and then use any number of freeware tools to generate PDFs (either directly or by going through PS first) from that. You can then continue to update the source file and regenerate the output file as needed. I used to do this all the time. (On a Mac. If you decide that this is what you want to do, I have some free tool suggestions for you.)

I have a job application form that is provided as an editable .pdf file. I want to be able to save the form partially completed, and finish it later. When I'm done I want to save it as an uneditable .pdf and submit it by email.
