It's a great philosophy to keep in mind when talking online or via email with people. We so often jump to conclusions about what people mean and can easily end up in horrible arguments online. Even if they did mean poorly, isn't it better to treat them well than to continue the argument?
I worry at times that I might be too naive about human nature, but if people really are evil all the time, I'd rather pretend otherwise. Reminds me I need to post the conclusion of My Little Plagiarist.
That's why I love how you put it -- it's not that people ARE doing good or right things -- it's just that they think they are...which can lead to all sorts of...yeah.
Same thing with liberals vs. conservatives, for example the abortion battle. Both sides feel they're doing the right thing. It's what makes the fights so bitter.
