I'm going to try it, though not aggressively (I want to write, I don't necessarily want to write a novel). I'm zandperl. I'm starting off with finishing a supposedly short story that I started this summer.

Edit: Anyone know why people can't find me in a search? I don't see a setting for this that I've blocked or something.

Edit again: This should link to my profile.

When did you sign up? I read about them having some caching issues so maybe if you wait another day or so, you will show up in the search.

Yeah, the search option still doesn't seem to be working with her name. Might want to drop a note to whoever works on that site, maybe it's a glitch affecting other people too.

I did submit an bug report on it. WHo knows if it'll get fixed.

People can't find you on LJ? And how are they searching? Real name? Email? Username?

On NaNoWriMo. Context is key.

Haha

People so often write entries about multiple topics, so I didn't even think that the edit pertained to the original topic. That makes sense.

Heh, what you say makes sense too. I make an effort to, when I do have multiple topics in a single post, have the post title indicate so.

I had your approach to NaNo last year- I had a story I wanted to tell and NaNo seemed a good excuse to give it a try. I ended up with a 26,000 word novella that I'm pretty proud of.

This year, I set out from the beginning to try to win, and also to be more active in the social part of NaNo. I'm already more than a day ahead of schedule and I attended my region's kickoff party and one of the write-ins. And the text just keeps flowing.

Both ways to enjoy NaNo work. Don't feel any pressure to finish a novel if you don't want to.

I was feeling very unproductive for work today (first day working from home in a month!) so I sat down and pounded out the rest of that short story I was working on. A net gain of 200 words on a 1400 word short story may not be much, but I'm still glad. It needs refining, but that's for National Editing Month. :-P

There's another story been kicking around my head that could theoretically turn into a novel. I'm frustrated b/c I know I started it and I don't know where the start went.
