Netflix gems

We watched a whole 15 minutes of "Reign of Fire" this evening. In those 15 minutes we learned that the dinosaurs were actually killed by fire breathing dragons, and that ice ages are caused by their smoke filling the atmosphere. The best scene was that of two adults acting out Star Wars scenes for children's entertainment in the post-apocalyptic/post-draconic world. That's also where we decided to quit while ahead.

Brought to you by the makers of "Mega Shark vs. Giant Octopus" (trailer has the mega shark leap into the air and snag a passing 747 in its jaws) and "30,000 Leagues Under the Sea". I'm not kidding on any of this.

I caught maybe 3 minutes of "Reign of Fire" at one point; I didn't have any particular objections, because how often do you get to see a tank and helicopter going into a castle?

(Also the sound was turned waaaaay down so I might have been insulated from the braincell loss.)

I was hoping for a knight in shining armor riding a tank, but I couldn't hold out long enough to find out if they had that one.

I think we saw about the same amount. We quit when the dragons were torching people in the tomato fields.

I'm curious. Did Netflix recommend the title to you, or did you choose it without any urging from Netflix?

At work we made a few prospective interns present on the Netflix challenge, and the problem was fairly interesting.
