I'm already thinking about birds. The house is lonely. And T$ said he'd probably be willing to feed a bird when we someday live together if I'm not home. :-P
I would like something a bit more playful than a cockatiel (cameo alert!), which Peeper was, although she was really sweet. I'm under the impression that quakers (no, not you
sammka) might be exactly the type of bird I want, but due to being a highly successful invasive species they're regulated or illegal in some states (including PA since 1973, where I have in the past and may in the future spend occasional summers). So maybe a conure, since they're more legal and mobile, but I get the impression they're louder and less loving. Plus it turns out there's many species of conure...
Anyone know more about mid-sized birds?

Reading your eulogy of her on your wiki, I get the impression that you are an only child. That being the case I suspect that Peeper was sometimes a surrogate sibling. Let yourself grieve.
I am glad you have T$ to lean on.
