Okay [livejournal.com profile] the_xtina, b/c you love LJ-foo so much, tell me how to make it so my friendslist doesn't show any of the [livejournal.com profile] _scientists_ posts that're article requests, but does show all the other posts from that comm. I read my friendslist via Firefox. I've also got NetNewsWire (Mac) which I'm attempted to start using exclusively. I don't use any blog-posting software, but I'm willing to consider one if it'd fix the world for me.

Others are welcome to pitch in too.

I honestly don't think it's... easily possible.  It'd be better if they were consistent with anything (tag usage, post titles, article formatting, things like that), but since there's not...

I suppose there's a way to do it via Javascript... dammit, now I'll never sleep.

I checked out NNW's site.  If you know owt about AppleScript, you can maybe script a filtering thing into NNW directly - have it scan on 'article request', frex.  I'd love to have more input on this, but (a) I don't have a Mac :( and (b) the last time I tried AppleScript, I loathed it.  Although, my dad sent me a bunch of online-type manuals, and I think I may still have one for AS.

(It also uses Automator?  I've never tried it.)

Man, I lose.  Greasemonkey script: LJ Filter.  You're using Smooth Sailing, so it should work for you.  (I'm using Expressive, so I can't test it for you.)

Install it in the usual way

Have to admit, I've no clue on that part. :-P

No worries:

1) Install Greasemonkey (requires a reboot).
2) Install LJ Filter (doesn't require a reboot).
3) Go to your friends page; when it's loaded, go to Tools > Greasemonkey > User Script Commands > Edit LiveJournal Filter Rules.
4) Profit?
