Try a neti pot!

"Breathe through the mouth, and enjoy the warm, soothing feeling." More like "try not to drown!" My doctor recommended this for my cold symptoms. I'm not sure if it's worse than not breathing, but I suspect it may be.

I use something a little different. The neti pot doesn't give me enough pressure to really clean things out.

I use the Sinus Rinse here:

It's a weird feeling to use it at first but you quickly get used to it. It works really well to lessen my allergy symptoms.

Ugh, I just reallllllly didn't like how it felt. maybe with practice, but I do'nt know if I think it's worth it.

The sinus rinse is actually easier to use because you squeeze the bottle and you don't have to tilt your head into weird sideways angles. I have a neti pot, too, and I prefer the sinus rinse bottle. I found mine at Walgreens. I think it was about $15 for the bottle and a whole bunch of saline packets.

I second the NeilMed recommendation. It's great. I have a drowning phobia and it doesn't bother me at all.
