Try a neti pot!

"Breathe through the mouth, and enjoy the warm, soothing feeling." More like "try not to drown!" My doctor recommended this for my cold symptoms. I'm not sure if it's worse than not breathing, but I suspect it may be.

It's a weird feeling to use it at first but you quickly get used to it. It works really well to lessen my allergy symptoms.

Date: 2008-11-26 02:13 pm (UTC)Anyway, poor man's neti is getting your fingers wet under running water repeatedly and using them to gently work everything out of your nose. That's my version, anyway. I don't do the head tilt pouring process, or the "sniffing saline" thing, since I imagine it's not great to do with our super-chlorinated tap water. Helps keep the nose goblins down all day, at least.
